Aisle Style: Simple Benches & Spools

Good morning loves!  You know how I love different, right?  Well when I came across this aisle style on the super talented Jeni's blog, The Found Blog, I fell head over heels in love with it.  Have a look-see at this sweetness...

It's just so simple and lovely - just look at those hills!  Sometimes things get over done, however, this is just perfect.  Slim benches with a darling detail...

Homemade: Ribbon and Lace Table Runner

Happy Thursday loves!  Goodness - I seriously can't even believe that it is Thursday already...where has this week gone?  And why did it go by so fast?  Aye, aye, aye am I behind on lots of things this week ;-)  Eeks...and to think that this weekend is Memorial Day weekend is even more crazy!  Okay...whoever stole May away from me...I would like it back now...please!

And with weeks flying by like this one, it's no wonder I can't seem to find the time to do a homemade project these days!  I am really hoping to get back into doing my own homemade projects again....as I miss them!  However, I do have probably one of the easiest projects to date for you today!  Have a look-see at this ribbon and lace table runner...
Darling Detail
To make a ribbon and/or lace table runner, all you need is ribbon and/or lace and a pair of scissors.  Just run the ribbon the length of the table and trim.  Here are a couple more pictures for you...

See easy peasy!  And makes quite a lovely statement, no?

Homemade: Flower Filled Peat Pots

Happy Thursday loves!  Is everyone having a wonderful week so far?  Well if not, the good news is tomorrow is Friday...woohoo.  I love Fridays ;-)  However, before I get too excited about tomorrow, I thought I would share this fabulous little idea I spotted over one of my favorite blogs, French Larkspur.  Every time I go there I am inspired!  It is eco-friendly, cost effective and a farily easy DIY!  Here have a look-see at these hanging flower filled peat pots...
Homemade
Darling, no?  To get the how to and see more pictures, click right here.  However, you only need some peat pots (I bought some at Home Depot for a couple of dollars for a bunch of them), dried flowers (any dried flower would work), ribbon and some embellishments to make your own.  And I love that not only can they be decorated in so many ways, but that you can also use them on the table!  Oh me likey ;-)

P.S. - I also have a super duper easy Homemade post on Over The Moon Vintage Rentals too.  Click right here to see!

Tuesday Shoesday #14: Fringing Out

This week I have decided to go a little vintage on you!  I am loving these Marni fringed leather and wood sandals...

And I can just picture them with a little lace shift dress, like this one...
Tuesday Shoesday
For a casual outdoor vintage style wedding!  Cute, no?  Yet, you could wear for a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner as well.

However, I would wear the sandals now with cropped pants, a white tee, and some fabulous little baubles...oooh and a cute handbag too!

Be sure to check out these lovely blogs for more Tuesday Shoesday goodness:

Flowers of the Week: 2.28.11

Hello loves!  Happy last day of February.  Are you ready for March?  I am, because with the coming of March, comes Spring - YAY!  So how about some dreamy light, and a darling bouquet wrapped in lace today?
Flowers of the Week
Ahhh yes, this is just what I am in the mood for this sunny morning!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  I have a crazy week this week, and hope that I can get it all done.  I have yet to post things in my Etsy store, but hope to get them up soon.  Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

The Look: Natural

I am so loving this look...
The Look
...and think it is perfect for a variety of settings.  From an intimate backyard wedding, a garden wedding, a wedding in a field,  a wedding in a forest or barefoot and on the beach - this natural look would be perfect each.  All you would need to do is change the bouquet and accessories, if any.

A lace wedding dress, a slightly messy updo and natural makeup is my idea of a casual, but beautiful wedding look.  Just add some flowers in your hair for a garden wedding, or a fabulous hair accessory (I LOVE the ones from Twigs and Honey) and you're done.

However, I could see a fabulous gold locket on a long chain too.  Oh my...my opera singing great-great-grandma's brooch would be an AMAZING detail to add (after all, she is who I was named after).  I am sure that you can find an heirloom piece to wear as well!  And if perhaps the night was to turn a tad chilly, a lovely little cardigan would do just fine.  Eeek....can't you just picture it?

Flowerwild February: Day 1

Hey loves!  Happy first day of February.  Which means Spring is getting closer - yay!  I wanted to let you know I am starting a new series for the month of February called Flowerwild February.  I thought February is a perfect month for this new series...with Valentine's Day, and all the flowers that are actually purchased this month...just seemed fitting.

I have noticed that I am OVER THE MOON about one particular flower designer designs.  And because I love her arrangements so much - I thought that I would post one of her arrangements everyday (Monday through Friday - that's 20 days) for the month of February!  Yes, I know that is a lot of flowers...but I am sure we all would take flowers every day if we could.  Seriously, every time I see an arragement, bouquet, or bout that I L-O-V-E it is designed by the same designer!  I am talking EVERY.SINGLE.ONE!!!

Who is this mystery person you ask?  None other than the amazing, ridiciously and uber talented Kate of Flowerwild.  (Hence Flowerwild February!)  Just have a look-see at this bouquet, and you will know what I am talking about...
Flowerwild-February-Day-1
Gorgeous perfection!  I just love the lace, don't you?  Really, I love everything about this bouquet.

There are so many different arrangements that Kate has designed that are just stunning...I just know you are going to love this little series.  So be prepared for lots of flowery goodness over the next couple of weeks!

~ tuesday thought: black lace ~

Good Morning lovely readers!  Hope you are well this morning.  Me = exhausted...but a good exhausted!  I am working on two guest post photo shoots, on top of this one for today, and my Homemade post for Thursday...so running on low fuel.  Please bear with me and my sparse table decor!  Even Mr. Big said:  "Isn't it kind of sparse?" (in the sweetest possible way!) I said yes, but I have to much to do and need some sleep.  And I know you will forgive me ;-)

So for the first Tuesday Thought of the year, I thought I would play off of one of my previous posts.  Do you remember the cake plate edged in black lace?  Click here to see.  Anyway, I've been playing with that lace a little bit and thought of some other ways in which to use.  Here are the three types of black lace I used (sorry for the bad picture)...
DSC_0045
I used the wider lace for all projects, except the rosettes.  So let's have a look-see and see what I came up with.  First up, I made a very SIMPLE lace chandelier.

Yes, simple in the fact that all I used was two embroidery hoops(inside pieces only), spray painted them black, attached the lace using glue dots (the BEST thing ever...the key to use them is to roll your finger over them), and glue to attach the black string!  It really looks darling in person, but it's one of those things I have a hard time getting a great picture of.  A couple of other very simple was to use are wrapped around a napkin...
Tuesday Thought

I love how the wider piece of lace looks, don't you?  Also, you could use it wrapped around a vase...

Or wrapped around the edge of the table...

Or wrapped around an invitation...
Tuesday Thought
I love it made into rosettes with a needle and thread...
Tuesday Thought
And as an added little bonus, I wrapped it around a wine glass and adhered the lace on the back with a glue dot...but used cream so you can see that it looks different, but still pretty.
Tuesday Thought
Tuesday Thought
Oh and I can't forget the pink roses Mr. Big gave to me...
Tuesday Thought
Not only are they gorgeous, they smell heavenly.  (Thanks honey!)  This is exactly how I found them when I came home.  I didn't want to mess with his arrangement of them - so cute!

Well, there you have it my dears - a couple ways to incorporate black (or other colored) lace at your wedding or event.  There are handfuls of other ways to use, but just wanted to give you a couple today!  Hope you enjoyed this first Tuesday Thought of the year.  Have a lovely day!

~ homemade: linen and lace details ~

I can't believe that this is the last Thursday of 2010!  Can anyone tell me where the year went?  Seriously, it went from April when my nephew was born to December in the blink of an eye.  Don't you remember as a kid days, weeks and months seemed so long?  Yet, as an adult they fly by.  If anyone can tell me how to slow down time, I would LOVE to hear it!

So for this final Thursday in 2010 I am posting the final pictures from my linen and lace photo shoot - some other details not covered in my previous post.  First up is the invitation...
Invitation
Invitation
Using a vintage linen I ironed on the invitation using a transfer.  The invitations were placed in a box with book page strips and tied with a book page and lace.  I love it when invitations aren't in an envelope.  I know, extra postage...but sometimes it is just worth it.  I know I would love to receive the box above in the mail.  Wouldn't you?  Up next is the lounge area...
Lounge Area
The umbrella was an antique that was nothing but the frame.  A vintage linen round tablecloth I had fit perfectly over it.  To add some detail to it, I trimmed it in vintage lace and added a cute topper.

The cot is an old green army one that I covered with a vintage white tablecloth and topped it with a vintage lace tablecloth.

It wouldn't be a wedding without some bubbly and some soft music.  The radio that you see below was Aunt Millie's first anniversary wedding present.

Next is the dance area...

A vintage radio, a roll of player piano music, a tiara, an apothecary jar and my great-grandfathers squeezebox accoridion (yes, he used to play it) all bring together a small dance area.  And two more pictures to pull it all together...

I hope you enjoyed this homemade photo shoot.  It was my first one, and I can tell how much my photography skills have improved.  So glad I never used it...as it was the perfect way to end the year!  Looking forward to 2011 and lots more homemade posts for you.  Thank you for following along with this one!
