Who Says

...you can't serve up cinnamon rolls in pretty tins on a dessert table?
Who Says
I L-O-V-E this idea my dears!  And you only need a couple vintage tins I think, the baking pans (like in the picture) would look cute too...plus, there's nothing like scooping up a cinnamon roll out of a baking tin ;-)

P.S. - Aunt Millie is known for her cinnamon rolls, and used to make them EVERY Wednesday while her kids were growing up...and still run a business from home!  Why don't I have a tradition like this...hmph.

Two: Bright Sweets

Happy Wednesday darlings!  I am in an extra bright and cheerful mood today ;-)))  Oh yes, my sister, brother-in-law, niece, nephew and mom should be arriving soon, and I couldn't be more OVER THE MOON!  And while I love soft colors, today I thought I would post something nice and bright to match my mood.  Actually two bright things...that just so happen to be sweet!

How fabulous would these brightly colored rock candy sticks be on a dessert table, or even given as favors...

So cheerful, no?  Another way you could bring these bright colors into your big day is with these...
Two
Your own brightly colored soda pop!  Seriously, how fun are these?  Hmm, I wonder if they would leave your tongue blue, or green or pink?  And if they do, I think I want mine to be pink today...what about you?

LCW's First Annual Cake Week: Day 1

Welcome loves to LCW's First Annual Cake Week!  I figured since my birthday was yesterday, and my sister's is today - why not just make this whole week cake week!  Sounds fabulous, no?  Ooh and delicious too.  So every week of our birthdays, from here on out, it will be 'Cake Week'.  Why?  Cause you can never have too much cake, can you?

So let's kick off this week with one of my faves, shall we?  Have a look-see at this deliciousness...

 Just look at this detail...

OVER THE MOON is the only way to describe this cake.  Ooh, the blue color is one of the most dreamy colors ever, and paired with the gold and silver it is simply divine!  A great cake to start off LCW's 'Cake Week', no?

Inspired By: Rainer Cherries

There is no cherry prettier and sweeter than the Rainer!  It is said that: "growing these cherries is like playing poker with God."  I guess that explains why they are kind of expensive ;-)

Rainers make a brief appearance in June and July, and are definitely something I look forward to every Summer.  However, once you've had Rainers it's hard to have anything else.  To me, they are definitely inspiring!  Have a look-see at the lovely Rainers...
Inspired By
Pretty, no?  And the blue plate below adds just the perfect amount of contrast, to make the prettiest palette!  Wonder if this dessert table was inspired by them...
Mexican inspired cake table
Again, it's not just the color, but the feel here - summery, light, pretty and sweet - both the Rainer cherries and the dessert table!  Don't you just love how inspiration can come from anywhere - a chevron floor, chippy pink paint, an embroidered book cover and Rainer cherries are all perfect examples of just that!

Tuesday Shoesday #30: Buckles & Butterflies

Oh Manolo - you sure do know your way to a woman's heart!  Have a look-see at these jewel buckle d'Orsay's...
Tuesday Shoesday
Gorgeous, no?  What a fabulous pair to wear on you wedding day.  I love all the colors, don't you? Those buckles?  Yep, love those too!  And I think a perfect match for these shoes is this wonderful butterfly wedding cake by Martha Stewart...you know, this one...
Cake
However, if the butterflies are too whimsy for you, this macaroon cake would be another fabulous option...

I don't think you could go wrong with either one.  Awww, shoes and cake - really does it get any better?

Flowers of the Week: 6.27.11

Okay, I am a little stumped how today is the last Monday of June!  Really, where is the time going?  I mean Friday is the first of July - this Friday!  Aye, aye, aye - I really need time to s...l...o...w down.  Or for there to be at least 4 more hours in every day.  I'm not picky - really, I will take either one ;-)  And while my sister and her family (can't wait to get pictures of my nephews red hair - it's FABULOUS) and my mom are still coming to visit for almost two weeks, the trip got pushed back til the last week of July - whew, that buys me some time to get ready for their visit.  I have lots to do.

So tell me - how was your weekend my dears?  Did you do anything fun?  I had a delightful weekend that was pretty productive and fun!  Oh, and you must have a look-see at the bed I picked up - it really is over the moon.  You can see it right here. It's perfect for a boudoir shoot ;-)

Anyhoo, moving right along...here is a gorgeous white, with a bit of blue, bouquet to start off the week...

I have the sweetest bouquet for you this Monday morning!  It's exactly what I needed to start my week off on a sweet note.  Have a look-see at this sweetness...
Flowers of the Week
Oh I am just loving the softness, the pops of blue and the cameo!  Everything about this bouquet is perfect, no?

So tell me my dears, did you have a lovely weekend?  Do anything fun and exciting?  I have to tell you - my weekend was quite lovely...and I'm hoping to continue the lovely right through this week and into next weekend too!

Tuesday Shoesday #21: Glitter Goodness

Good Morning my lovelies!  I hope my pick for today's 'Tuesday Shoesday' adds a little sparkle to your day....because we could all use a little more sparkle, no?  Have a look-see at these glitter snake-effect and leather ankle boots by Thakoon...
Tuesday Shoesday
Goodness even the heels sparkle!
Tuesday Shoesday
When I first saw these ankle boots I was kind of torn as to whether I loved them or not.  It's not the fact that they are an ankle boot...because I have to tell you that I am an ankle boot wearing kind of girl!  And I loved the bright blue and the sparkle, but the navy leather wasn't doing that much for me.  So I figured in order to decide how I felt about them, I really needed to see them on to determine if I LOVED them.  This is a picture I found from the runway ...
Tuesday Shoesday
Granted the shoes look a bit darker in this picture, but LOVE them indeed.  Actually, I loved Thakoon's entire Spring 2011 line!  Anyhoo, I would have to say they would be perfect for your something blue, and would look amazing with a white wedding dress!

...you can't send your guests a scratch off Save the Date to see where the wedding will be?

Eeks - how fun are these scratch off save the dates designed by Swiss Cottage Designs?  I adore that they included a penny in a glassine envelope...just the perfect detail.

I love interactive save the dates!  It gets your guests involved from the very start, and gives them something exciting to look forward to.  Tell me you wouldn't love to receive one of these save the dates in the mail?

Flowers of the Week: 3.28.11

Happy Monday my darlings!  Can you believe that today is the last Monday in March?  Eeks...time really is flying by these days.  Before I know it June will be here...with not only the arrival of Summer, but lots of other goodness too.  I am OVER THE MOON about a little project that I am working on, and will hopefully get to share with you soon...if not before June!

So why don't we start off this last Monday in March with a beautiful bouquet...
Flowers of the Week
Flowers of the Week
Beautiful, no?  I adore the softness of this bouquet, and (of course) the simple wrapped burlap stems.  A perfect bouquet for Spring!

And speaking of Spring, it has rained here almost everyday for the last two weeks, and I am looking forward to the sunshine and warmer temperatures starting today.  They say we are supposed to be in the upper 70's on Thursday which I am just tickled about.  I L-O-V-E warm weather, and am really, really, really (did I say it enough?) am looking forward to being able to get outside!  What are you really looking forward to this week?

Flowers of the Week: 3.21.11

Spring has finally arrived and I couldn't be more thrilled!  Hooray for green grass, fresh blooms, warmer days, eating outside and longer nights.  It's funny how I feel like I hibernate once Winter starts.  Yet, with the arrival of Spring I am running for the front door...wanting to get out and explore.

Another thing I love about Spring is all the petite flowers that bloom. Grape hyacinth (also known as Muscari), forget-me-knots, snowdrops and narcissus are all fabulous; only making their appearance once a year.  And what an appearance it is...
Flowers of the Week

I love the whole feel of this bouquet!  Like it was gathered on a morning walk and tied together with a pretty ribbon.  And the color is just gorgeous too.  Such a perfect bouquet to welcome Spring, no?

So are you as excited as I am about Spring? Oh, I hope so...as I have some lovely Spring things lined up for this week.  Here's to a great week here at LCW and where ever you are too!

Flowerwild February: Day 1

Hey loves!  Happy first day of February.  Which means Spring is getting closer - yay!  I wanted to let you know I am starting a new series for the month of February called Flowerwild February.  I thought February is a perfect month for this new series...with Valentine's Day, and all the flowers that are actually purchased this month...just seemed fitting.

I have noticed that I am OVER THE MOON about one particular flower designer designs.  And because I love her arrangements so much - I thought that I would post one of her arrangements everyday (Monday through Friday - that's 20 days) for the month of February!  Yes, I know that is a lot of flowers...but I am sure we all would take flowers every day if we could.  Seriously, every time I see an arragement, bouquet, or bout that I L-O-V-E it is designed by the same designer!  I am talking EVERY.SINGLE.ONE!!!

Who is this mystery person you ask?  None other than the amazing, ridiciously and uber talented Kate of Flowerwild.  (Hence Flowerwild February!)  Just have a look-see at this bouquet, and you will know what I am talking about...
Flowerwild-February-Day-1
Gorgeous perfection!  I just love the lace, don't you?  Really, I love everything about this bouquet.

There are so many different arrangements that Kate has designed that are just stunning...I just know you are going to love this little series.  So be prepared for lots of flowery goodness over the next couple of weeks!

~ tuesday thought: boxed up ~

It's Tuesday again, and that means time for another Tuesday Thought.  With being under the weather for the last week, I did not have the energy to do my own little photoshoot for you, but thought this was a cute and easy idea to share with you all.  One of my favorite blogs is What Katie Ate.  If you haven't been there yet, you should take a look-see.  It is full of delicious recipes, and gorgeous pictures.  I'm always inspired when I visit.  Today I was inspired by her cookies.  We all love a great cookie, no?  Well how about these macadamia, hazelnut, ginger and chocolate cookies...
Tuesday Thought
Ummm, yes please and thank you.  Definitely better than your typical chocolate chip cookie I think, and something kinda special.

So here is your Tuesday Thought:  Display, or give as gifts/favors , your sweets in a pretty wooden box (I believe this was a cocoa bean box, but can't read the writing on it)...
Tuesday Thought
Even if these were your typical chocolate chip cookies they would seem extra special if displayed or given like this.  Taking it one step further - you can display a handful of sweets on the dessert table this way.  How pretty would a couple of these boxes, or similar ones, look on a dessert table?  I can just picture them lined up...  And I adore the bright blue color of the box with the color of the cookies - a great color palette.
Tuesday Thought
If you would like to make these cookies, then here is the recipe...
Tuesday Thought
I think I am going to have to make these soon!

You know LCW is all about the details - and it's little details like this that I'm over the moon about!  Simple - yes.  Easily overlooked - lots of times.  But when noticed, makes an impression - absolutely!  This is one of the easiest ways to add details to your event - take the ordinary (or something special) and display it in a new way...hmmm this one little detail has me thinking of lots of ideas...how pretty would flower arrangements be in it?  Or silverware at a more casual event?  Or escort cards? Or they would be great on each table filled just the way they are...

I need to give a little shout out to Mr. Big as it is his birthday today.  So Happy Birthday hottie!  143 to the moon and back!  Mwah xoxo
