Fantasy Friday: A Fashionable Fete

Good morning darlings.  Happy Friday!

I was thinking the other day, while watching football, about something new and fun that I could bring to my blog - and it dawned on me...if boys (and girls too) can have 'Fantasy Football' - then I, you, me, we can most definitely have 'Fantasy Friday' - hehe ;-)  Don't you just love how I can rationalize that?  I am told I am pretty good, quite possibly a master, at it...at least when it comes to rationalizing with men.  However, I think most woman are, are we not?  A master that is.  Not that I have to rationalize anything here...but in case you're wondering - that's just how 'Fantasy Friday' came about.

Anyhoo, what is 'Fantasy Friday' you ask...well it can be anything that I am fantasizing about.  But I want you to play along with me - and tell me what you have been fantasizing about this week.  Maybe I should clarify that - fantasies about weddings, fashion, food, shoes, flowers, baubles, stationery, beauty, style, etc...  Here is mine for this week...
Fantasy Friday
A fashionable fete in white and gold.  I am LOVING white and gold these days.  Seriously, LOVING it ;-)  In my fantasy I would create a fete with an all white and gold palette with some stunning details that are, of course, a bit different - like the detail on the dress.  So I would use the Tiffany pill box as a ring holder.  Don't you think it would make the most PERFECT ring holder ever?  The centerpieces on long tables would be a variety of all white flowers, with smaller vases filled with just one type of flower.  And I would use the mirrored tray to hold a fabulously tall three tiered white cake.  It would be stunning, no?  Just thought I would share a couple of things I have been fantasizing about this week.

So tell me darlings - what have you fantasizing about this week?

LCW Style: Anthropologie Alternative

Hello lovelies, how is your Monday morning going so far?  Splendid I hope!  I have to tell that I am in L-O-V-E with this Anthropologie dress...
Fashion
And I think it would make a gorgeous wedding dress for a casual beach wedding in Mexico or a bohemian wedding, don't you?  The gauzy, cotton material makes it a perfect choice to wear for warm weather, and the ruffle adds just the right amount of detail.  However, if it is to casual for you to wear on your wedding day...it would look just as darling as a rehearsal dinner dress, or you could easily change into it at the end of the night for a stroll on the beach with your new hubby.

And with a price of $228.00, I think I will be picking this up to wear this Summer.  No, not as a wedding dress, but because I love that much!

LCW Style: Marvelous Marchesa

Not too often do I post wedding dresses here at LCW, and you are probably wondering why?  Well, I have come to the conclusion that when you go into a bridal salon looking for a specific type of dress, you usually end with something you never thought you would wear or would look good on you.  Case in point - when I was looking for my wedding dress I went in not really knowing what I wanted, but definitely knowing what I didn't want.  However, my mom walked right up to a dress, pulled it off the rack and said: "This is it."  I took one look at the layers and layers of tulle, and said:  "I don't think so."  Yet, to appease her I said I would try it on - go figure it was a Vera (not that she knew that at the time), looked A.MAZ.ING on, and yes ended up being THE ONE!

Since then, a handful of brides I have spoken with have a similar story.  Hence, why I don't often post wedding dresses...unless they happen to take my breath away, and are so spectacular that I just have to share!  And when I saw this Marchesa dress that is exactly what happened...
Marchesa-1
And you bet your buttons I am now a lover of layers and layers of tulle!  But no matter how you look at this dress, it is spectacular!  Just have a look-see at it from the side...
Marchesa-1a
And the back...
Marchesa-1b
And while I know layers upon layers of tulle aren't for everyone, I do think that every bride should try on a variety of styles...as the dress you would have never thought you would like, or would look good in often times ends up being THE ONE!

I will attempt to post dresses that take my breath away more often...as maybe, just maybe it might do the same for you.  And promise, not all the dresses that take my breath away involve layers and layers of tulle!

P.S. - I would love to hear your story about finding THE ONE!

These two swoonworthy stunners are from his Resort 2011 collection.  And I would wear either one in a heartbeat as a wedding dress!

I can see the first one at a garden, in a field, or even beach wedding.  The second I think is perfect for a classy barn wedding...(picture lots of glass, chandeliers, silver trophy cups, etc...)...I think it has something to do with the tie at the waist...kinda brings a lasso to mind!

Can't you just picture the dress at an old hollywood themed wedding?  Oh, it would be so glamorous.  As for the shoes...any bride can get away with a little bling on her feet!

P.S. - The sequin shoes are called Carly by Kate Spade and are still available...although in a limited selection of sizes.

The Dress

I'm not getting married, nor am I even engaged...but that doesn't mean I can't find MY perfect dress if I was!  I have been married once before (am now divorced), and wore a Vera Wang dress.  It's funny how even though the style is different from my first one, the designer is still the same.  Let me introduce to you my dream wedding dress...
Wedding Dress
Hello, ethereal layes of hand painted silk tissue organza - I am swooning over you!  Everything about this dress and this picture is me - the nude color, the layers of silk organza tissue, the elegant...yet casual feel...but still with the wow, take your breath away element, the loose bedheady hair, the location and the softness and color of the flowers - all me!  Casual elegance, with a little rustic, loads of personal elements and a little bling...plus the wow factor in a dress...that would be my perfect wedding defined!  Just thought I'd share.  What do you think?

Very Vera

I can't help but just swoon over Vera Wang's Fall 2010 collection.  I think there is something here for just about anyone.  I will be total honest here - I never thought I would wear a big wedding dress - but when I tried on a tulle ball gown by Vera (years ago) I fell instantly in love.  It was THE DRESS as my mom had said...even before trying any on!  So I have a tendency to lean towards ball gowns...hence why I am starting with these...
vera-set-1
Layers upon layers of tulle...I L-O-V-E!  Check out those necklines...OMG!  Similiar to the one on my dress...but I did change it.  So keep that in mind.  Both of the dresses above could be strapless and you would still get that great punch of sheer black from the sash.
vera-set-2
What I love about the two dresses above is the way that the bottom half of the dress falls.  It's like multiple bustles - how perfect.  And check out the pleats on the bottom of the dress on the right!
vera-set-3
Ah, the trumpet shape.  I think this shape is perfect on the right person...not everyone can pull this off.  However, I would suggest trying on many different shapes and styles - trust me - you'll be surprised!  But I do love the way the dresses trumpet out just below the knee.
vera-set-4
And for someone wanting a slimmer style - you can't go wrong with either one of the dresses above!  Whether you keep the dress as is, or you make some adjustments (like removing the sash or changing the color) you won't be disappointed with a dress by Vera Wang!
