I just adore bird's nests...
They are pretty, delicate, intricate and crafted with love I'm sure. And I can't help but think what fabulous centerpieces they would make! Of course, I would use only abandoned bird nests...but placed on a pretty plate or a cake plate they would be quite stunning.
For a more natural rustic centerpiece idea I would place them on wood rounds, a mossy branch or the table itself. If the idea of hunting down a lot of empty nests seems like a big task (which it can be), how about using just one or two at your reception. It would be such a pretty little detail!

~ tuesday thought: serve in style ~
I just L-O-V-E this picture...
A vintage serving tray with chippy paint and the bright white coffee cups - love the contrast of old and new!
Makes for such a pretty presentation don't you think?
So here is your Tuesday Thought: Find some vintage (if that's your style...if not others that are more fitting...like new lacquered ones for a more modern theme, or make some using old wooden boards for a rustic theme) serving trays to have your caterer's use for drinks, food and dessert instead of the standard old brown or black plastic with a cork top that they so often seem to use. One of the little details that I am sure will certainly be noticed! I just love, love, love this idea!!!

~ peach on the beach ~
I really like the idea of keeping a neutral color pallette for a beach wedding...and this picture above is a great example of how spectacular it could look!
I'm imagining a table with a white tablecloth and sand colored linen runner, white napkins, shiny silverware, lots of glasses filled with peach roses, a couple starfish here and there (not too many), lots of candles and a chandelier! And the cake...I'm seeing an all white one with buttercream frosting with just one or maybe a couple peach roses on top (like the simple cakes I posted here). It all would be simple, classic and elegant.
What's your favorite color palette for a beach wedding?

Leave it to Valentino to sweep me off my feet with these two amazing creations...
These two swoonworthy stunners are from his Resort 2011 collection. And I would wear either one in a heartbeat as a wedding dress!
I can see the first one at a garden, in a field, or even beach wedding. The second I think is perfect for a classy barn wedding...(picture lots of glass, chandeliers, silver trophy cups, etc...)...I think it has something to do with the tie at the waist...kinda brings a lasso to mind!

~ butterflies + teardrops ~
I am swooning over this pretty butterfly garland...
I love the delicateness of it, the soft colors, and that there are four sets of wings on each one! Couldn't you just picture them strung over or as a backdrop to the vow area. After all, isn't that the place where two become one? So corny, I know...but I love the whole idea of how this particular butterfly garland (over other ones I have seen) represent the union of two people. Okay, I'll stop being corny now...which is funny cause I don't think I normally am!
So on a little more fun note...this teardrop garland (which reminds me of balloons) is adorable too...
I am actually crushing on the colors of this garland! I would love to see it used at a Fall wedding...as it would add pretty pops of pink to the more traditional color palette of oranges, browns and greys that are typically used. And the name of the garland - Sugar Plum...which makes me start to come up with all kinds of wonderful thoughts and ideas! You can find both of these sweet garlands and more at the lovely Etsy shop - This Neck of the Woods.

...you can't use a vintage Bunsen Burner as a vase?
I am sooo adoring these! How fun would these be to use as centerpieces or as decor for a rustic, camping, outdoorsy type wedding? You could use one or group a couple together and fill with a couple of simple stems. I really am loving the simplicity of the one with the two stems (even though peonies are my fav)! Just the kind of out of the box thinking that I love. And these little jewels can be found at one of my favorite stores on Etsy, Ethan Ollie!

~ tuesday thought: collections ~
I just L-O-V-E everything about this picture...
The glass jars, the buttons, the vintage silverware, the color...all of it! I think the reason it appeals to me so much is that these are some of the things I like and collect (especially the vintage silverware)...among others.
Do you collect anything? Well if you do...here's your Tuesday Thought: incorporate them into your wedding. I mean, how cute would it be to have each table be something different - placed in a pretty jars like the ones above you could have a button table, a vintage silverware table, etc... It would allow you the opportunity to show off your collections and provide a great centerpiece display. Just add some small jars of flowers, candles or other little things and you have a very personal centerpiece! (P.S. - I'm working on a photo shoot doing this...and it looks amazing!)
And if you don't want to use them as centerpieces...I am sure you can find other places to have them on display...a mantle, a vintage cabinet, at a welcome table...you get the idea.

~ out on a limb ~
So I know I am going out on a limb here (no pun intended), but just take a look at this...
I am becoming obsessed with swings (as you can see here the one I posted last Friday). But this isn't so much a swing...more like a bed suspended from a branch...but you get the idea. And I am over the moon about this one!
I also adore day after shoots, and Megan over at forget.me.knot.weddings posted a lovely day after session yesterday. Which got me thinking...this is one prop I would love to have at a day after shoot! Can't you just see how adorable the pictures would be? And as I continued to think...why not use it as your photobooth area at your reception? Oh so fun and dreamy don't you think?
Have a swinging weekend my dears! See you on Monday.

~ popsicles + polka dots ~
I just love the simplicity of this...
Homemade popsicles on a plate, on polka dotted fabric - and all of it yellow...I L-O-V-E! And the shapes of these are making me swoon. Now this is my kind of popsicle!
P.S. - For a vintage/rustic outdoor wedding I would dress it up just a bit by adding some jars filled with wildflowers in white and yellow (I would also place some wildflowers in the molds that were used to make the popsicles too...so cute, right?), and putting the plates on crushed ice in old baking sheets with sides (to try and attempt to keep them cool...but I have a feeling they would be gone in a blink of an eye) for a pretty, low cost, diy popsicle bar. Pretty, sweet, yummy and refreshing...does it get any better than that?

~ tuesday thought: cute + cool coasters ~
Following yesterday's cute as a button post (which I just loved!) I stumbled upon a flickr fav of mine from Sarah Parrott...of Sarah Parrott Designs. How cute are these letterpress coasters...
I am really loving the whole button theme! And if buttons aren't your thing, she has cool record ones too...
Perfect for music lovers don't you think? Not only would they make adorable gifts for the bridal party, but they would make great favors as well.
So here is your Tuesday Thought: You could use them at the wedding - yes, as coasters....but you could also use them as seating cards or place cards. Or, you know me, make them into garlands! Have the records ones spinning in the breeze outside under a tree. Or decorate chairbacks at the reception, or string them together to line the walkway. Or use them as tags attached to favors. Or write on the back and send them out as Save the Dates...
Oh yes, I could probably go on all day...but I'll leave you with those for now! All can be found right here.
