I just had a conversation with my sissy yesterday that it is the details that make the difference between good and great. And that details don't have to be expensive or over the top...just something a little extra that shows you paid attention and you care. Here are two perfect examples of simple homemade details that everyone can do...
The simple detail of ribbon, a clothespin and small card take this arrangement up a notch! Don't get me wrong, the arrangement is gorgeous on it's own, but it's the detail that was added that really grab your attention. Same goes for these drinks below...
Rows of drinks at the ready are pretty. But rows of drinks at the ready with orange and lime slices...very pretty! Plus, I am a L-O-V-E-R of some type of garnishment in drinks!
I have decided that since LCW is all about the details that I would start a details series...to be posted randomly...that hopefully inspires you to add some very pretty little details to your event!!!

Are always adorable...
Isn't this picture the sweetest? I'm dying over the colors here! I think this color palette would make for a bright, fun wedding palette - whether in the backyard or the tropics. You could use the lovebirds on the invitations*, and postcards along the lines of something like these...
...for save the dates (minus the wording that is...unless it's a destination wedding)!
*Note: It would be cute to have a drawing of the lovebirds with the colors, instead of using a picture.

Simply Stunning
Sometimes one color is all that is needed to achieve your wedding look. Here is a perfect example...
An all white color palette, with touches of green and a hint of yellow from the Clematis vine (which are fairly easy to grow, come in about 200 varieties, and are fast climbers), is stunning in it's simplicity!

Colorscope
A while back I posted this on my luna and chloe blog...but thought I should post here too. Why? Just check out the color combinations...
This is Paper Source's Colorscope and it says "let our color palette tell you more about yourself." Yet, when I scanned it in I knew there was no way you could actually read it - so I broke it out for you.
I L-O-V-E it! Me - chartreuse of course, with a little papaya. So what color did you choose? And, what color are you?

Color Pallettes: Blue
Talk about something blue! How gorgeous are these blue ties? This would be a great way to incoporate shades of blue into your wedding.
Have each groomsman wear a different tie! Better yet, have your new hubby to be give them as grooms gifts. And to take it a little bit further - not only would I have each of the groomsmen wear a different tie, I would buy another one, altered of course, to wrap around the bridesmaids bouquets!

Color Palettes: Sorbet
Inspiration today comes from a picture of waxed cord. I knew as soon as I saw it the sorbet colors in raspberry pink, orange and lemon would make the most beautiful summer wedding palette.
Don't believe me? Take a look at this pale yellow cake with raspberry pink and orange detail!
So adorable don't you think?

Color Palattes: Gold
One thing I love about gold is that it plays off of the light - giving you more than just one color. Another thing, it's blingy. Combine the two and you will get a warm and fabulous color scheme. Take a look at this cake, which is quite formal and blingy, do you see just gold? No, you see a variety of shades and depths of gold (I know, I put color boxes along the side to help). Wouldn't it make a decadent color scheme for a more formal affair?
And if a more casual affair is what you are going for, then the cupcakes below are a great way to incoporate gold into your color scheme.
Wether you incorporate just a hint of gold or go all out - the end result, I'm sure, will be fabulous!

Color Palettes: Flowers + Stole
What do you get when you combine a vase full of pretty flowers and an amazing faux fur stole?
The most gorgeous color palette. How amazing would this rich, warm color palette be at your wedding? And the stole over your dress, with pearls - so glamorous!

Color Palettes: Cupcake Liners
Oh yes. See I think the pic below is so lovely - calming, soothing with just a little hint of glam (the silver liner on the bottom). How pretty would this color combo be for a wedding? White, pale pink, pale yellow and a hint of silver for some shimmer and sparkle. I think we've all seen pink and white - but what I love here is the yellow - it adds just a little pop of color.
I can picture it already...outdoor in spring or summer with large, casual flower arrangements...a basket of white parasols with a silver monogram...floating vases hanging from trees with tealights in some and flowers in the others...a string of white bunting flags with names and table assignments on them blowing in the breeze...pretty linens with just a hint of pattern and design on the tables with small silver mercury glass candleholders...a white cake with silver details surrounded by fresh flowers in white, pale pink and pale yellow arranged on a small table under a tree partially covered with a bed net...okay, I know...but just for a second close your eyes and see if you can see it! Or what do you see?
