I am in love, love, love with this embroidered book cover...
Isn't it just fabulous? Eeks - even if I didn't like the book, I have a feeling I would be buying it anyway because the cover is just that fabulous! And I wonder if this table decor was inspired by it...
Hmm...I get the feeling that it just might have been, as the table itself is set in it's own little secret garden...
Oh, I am loving the ombre tablecloth too. Loving it all really. Fabulous inspiration, no?

Darling Detail No. 3: Book Hearts
Ooooh, this is a cute little detail that I am sure you'll love! I am loving this rustic, vintage table decor...

And the books at each place setting are just perfect, I think. However, it gets even better! Just take a look at the pages that have been folded and tucked in to the center to form a heart...
Fabulous, no? Oh, I am over the moon about this little detail! Here's a couple of more pictures for you...
Such a sweet and simple DIY. All you need is a book. Now I know that a book at each place setting might be too much, however a couple of books here and there with a heart would still be cute!~ Ciao

Homemade: Escort Cards
Happy Thursday loves! I am happy to say that I have created my own homemade post for you today. It's an easy homemade project that everyone can do. I think it is the teacher in me (my degree is in Business Education) that came up with this idea. How cute would it be to use rulers as escort cards? Well, take a look-see and let me know...
I purchased the rulers at Beverly's Fabric and Crafts, wrote names of guests on them, as well as drew a heart around a number for the table they are to sit at! Now if I was going to use this idea in reality...I would have someone that writes much nicer than me do it!
I added a couple of other small elements...such as fabric ribbon on the basket, a heart shaped paper clip I made and some flags made from ruled practice writing paper. To finish the look I brought in a chalkboard, books, scissors, a key, a magnifying glass, a desk lamp and a mason jar that are all vintage. And of course the fabulous picture of my grandma and grandpa at the beach!
As always - remember that by changing out the details you can change the look. I think a retro look would be fun too.

~ homemade: linen and lace table decor ~
Happy Thursday loves! Can you believe Christmas is on Saturday - eek. I'm still shopping for presents, and spent almost 3 hours last night wrapping the ones we have. I guess that is what happens when you go on vacation right before the holidays...you play catch up when you get back! If I ever go on vacation before Christmas again I am going to make sure that the majority of my shopping is done before I go. Good strategy I think! I hope everyone is already done with all their shopping and getting to spend some time just enjoying the holiday season.
Anyway, I have the next part in my linen and lace photo shoot for you today! This week it is the table decor. Since vintage was my main theme - I really tried to look at the table from that perspective. So here it is...
Don't you just love Queen Anne's Lace? I do...can't you tell? In the picture above you can see the escort area that I featured a couple weeks ago. Also you might remember, I mentioned that each table was a chapter...well you can see in the picture below that the table was marked in just that way...
As I was thinking about vintage era's, and the time that my Great Aunt Millie grew up in...it dawned on me that a big thing back then was dance cards. So I thought - why not set at each place setting for the ladies a dance card, and for the man a boutonniere, of course!
So from the left over chapter's in the book I made a dance card for the ladies...
I ran a piece of vintage lace down the side, and painted golf sized pencils white. Yes, I painted them! The gold just didn't go, and I couldn't find white ones at the time. Inside I printed on cream colored construction paper (the only paper that I sure for this whole shoot that wasn't from the vintage book I used...remember I only used one book for this whole shoot) numbers with lines that the ladies could write who they danced with for each song.
And of course I had to have a happily ever after at the end!
For the boutonniere's I used a couple small pieces of Queen Anne's Lace and wrapped the stem with a vintage book page strip.
I have to tell you that the glasses you see in this shoot are Aunt Millie's. Believe it or not - they were her grandma's when she got married over 100 years ago! I couldn't believe she offered me them when I told her about the shoot I was going to do. Let me tell you - I handled them with extreme care!
I adorned the glasses with a sprig of mint, and a stir stick made with a scalloped circle punch. And below you can see one of my sets of vintage butter plates that I used to hold salt and pepper. Also I lined some vintage book pages down the center of the table.
The below picture isn't that great...but it does show you the mini vintage mold that I used at each place setting. (I also used a larger mold on my raffle table that I showed last week.) I filled each with some Queen Anne's Lace, and a stick that had a cute line from the book.
Another detail I wanted to point out were mason jars that I used. They actually said Good House Keepers on them - so perfect with my whole theme and the vintage drying rack escort area and the vintage ironing board that I used for the dessert table.
A couple more shots for you...

I adore my old, beat up red bench that I got for free. It brought just a little extra color to the table. So there you have it my dears - my vintage linen and lace table decor. Remember next week I have some other details to share with you...which is perfect as it will be the last part of my photo shoot and the end of the year!

~ tuesday thought: lampshades ~
Happy Tuesday my dears! I am so excited about today being Tuesday not only for this post, but because I leave for Florida tomorrow to see my family! I haven't seen them since April when my nephew, baby Riley was born. And he is already crawling and saying mama - or at least that is what we think he is saying ;-) When my sissy, Cole, told my niece, Madi, that I was coming for her 4th birthday she screamed out in excitement...I cried the big sap that I am. I cry every time I get off the phone with Madi...she's just so dang cute it kills me and I miss her more than anything. And she is smart as a whip I tell you. I keep telling my sister she is gonna have trouble on her hands sooner than she thinks! I will hopefully have some pictures to share of her Alice in Wonderland themed party. Oh and wait til I share what my sister made for the party - she's soooo much more talented at painting and drawing then I am. I kept getting pictures on my phone of what she was working on and my response each time - OMG!
Okay enough rambling outta me, and on to your thought for today. So here it is: Use vintage or new lampshades as boosters! Granted while they would work perfectly to boost centerpieces or items on your tables, I focused on using them on a dessert bar...

Cute no? And you can also use the small lampshades on cake plates to add more height...
Even though I used my typical cream and white color scheme, you could always glam it up, go retro, go modern or go rustic by using different shades and details. To give you an example, albeit not a very good one, here's a black lampshade with silver and glass details...
The simple changes, really change the look. So next time you need to give something a boost - consider a lampshade to do it! Remember, it's easy to change the style by using different shades. Hope you enjoyed your Tuesday Thought today. Check back next Tuesday where I will give you a couple more ideas for boosters...keeping with this theme...and using light covers!
