How sweet are these hearts?
It's the little details that make a big impact. I heart these sweet little treats. Happy weekend!

Colorscope
A while back I posted this on my luna and chloe blog...but thought I should post here too. Why? Just check out the color combinations...
This is Paper Source's Colorscope and it says "let our color palette tell you more about yourself." Yet, when I scanned it in I knew there was no way you could actually read it - so I broke it out for you.
I L-O-V-E it! Me - chartreuse of course, with a little papaya. So what color did you choose? And, what color are you?

Cookie Jars
Am I the only one that has flashbacks of bright colors and animal shapes when I hear the word - cookie jars? Maybe it's my childhood coming back to haunt me...who knows. However, take a look at these cookie jars...
So cute, don't you think? Now this is my idea of a cookie jar! And, be honest, who doesn't love getting into the cookie jar?

Flowers of the Week 1.25.10
This week's flowers are a little different - I guess that's why I like them so much! How cool is this for a centerpiece idea?
Some simple buds coming out of a piece of wood = rustic elegance! So what do you think?

Branching Out
I have to admit that I am completely smitten with Eat Cake Be Merry's creations! They are simply stunning. Take a look-see...
Not overdone. Dainty in a way (I think it's the flowers). I love that it has only one branch at the bottom branching upwards - which takes center stage. The work and detail are perfection. I thought I would end this week on a sweet note - pretty sweet don't you think? Hope you all have a Happy (Sweet) Weekend.

Centerpieces: Going Green
Here is a simple centerpiece idea that is good for enviroment!
A runner of cotton, linen, or even burlap would be good, with some fresh loaves of bread, fruit and small bottles of just a couple of stems of fresh flowers is a simple, causual centerpiece idea. And I love, love, love those mismatched cloth napkins! The centerpieces are subdued in color, but the mismatched napkins bring in some brighter color. Now if this isn't enough color for you - just make a couple of quick changes in the runner color, your choice of fruit and flowers, and you can take the whole color scheme up a notch! Just remember if you see something and like it but it just doesn't fit you color scheme - picture it in the colors you are using and possibly you will see it in a whole new light! Imagine yellow and greens of lemons and limes, reds of pomegranates or apples...

Flowers of the Week 1.18.10
What I love about the flowers of the week this week is the color palette - white and green! Such a simple color palette that makes a huge statement. Simple, clean and crisp - kind of like an apple!
Ah - and there just happens to be one sitting on top of the menu cards!
I think this is perfect for a spring wedding. I really like how the centerpieces are low, just green and white and in galvanized metal bowls (from what I can tell), and just to the right of the centerpiece in the picture below you can see just a hint of a metal cup/pail with apples in it -which continues on with their theme. And did you notice what is hanging from the chairs?
I love this little detail below...a heart shaped tray filled with apples! How cute is it that both of their names start with C?
With all the color choices out there right now - remember that sometimes a simple palette can be just what is needed and provide lots of impact. Happy Monday!

Fortune Telling
Here is something just for fun...
I found this book at Pottery Barn, and thought that it might be fun. Now Pottery Barn is selling it for $9.95, but when I went to Amazon to see if I could see inside it was listed at $4.93. Bargain! And yes here is what it looks like inside...
Enjoy, and happy weekend everyone!

On the Table
I am swooning over the way this table is decorated!
An old plank going down the center with some flower arrangements, lace wrapped votives and some nuts and sticks! Here's a close up of the flowers. I L-O-V-E lambs ear in arrangements - it is super soft and silvery green.
Some of the details for you too.
Ah, the feathers are fab too! Now I see this as a very cost effective tabletop. First off - old planks...find them for free. Second - old trophies and slightly tarnished silver vases - I would scour antique stores, flea markets and friends homes (just put a sticker on the bottom of who they belong too and make sure to return them). Third - buy in bulk votive holders and apply your own lace, either paper or real, with adhesive. And lastly - find a great florist or do them yourself! And this would work any time of the year - think beach with shells and votives with sand, spring with moss, summer with butterflies...

The Pefect Silhouette
Okay, I have to admit it - I am in L-O-V-E with the work of Karl Johnson. If you haven't heard of him let me tell you that Karl Johnson cuts out silhouettes freehand on black paper either in person or from a photograph. If that isn't amazing enough - he attends weddings and cut out guests silhouettes! How fabulous is that? I know, if it's not an option for you, you can still send him a picture and he will create his masterpiece, send it to you and you can still incoporate it into you wedding. Check it out...
What a great way to greet your guests! This is just one way to use his work at your wedding. Here is another.
Yet, there are so many other ways - how about on your invitation? I think that would be adorable. However you choose to use - I am sure it would be spectacular. Definitely a hot new trend.

Flowers of the Week 1.11.10
I have a special little treat for you today. I loved so many pictures taken by the photographer Erin at Erin Hearts Court that I had to post multiple pictures. He does an amazing job at capturing all of the details! These flowers are perfect for a spring or summer wedding in shades of pink, cream, white and green. First the bouquet...
And the boutonniere with a full view of the bouquet - just lovely.
Details on the table...
How cute are those table numbers?
I love all the elements here - handkerchiefs, wood and glass. Did you notice the little bird vase holding the flower in the left picture above? The perfect little detail!
Again, different vases and jars...and the little bird.
And finally, a view of the whole table...
I love all the softness - dreamy and romantic. What do you think?

Clever Cocktails
Well we all know that cocktails have become an important part of a wedding - with so many people having either a cocktail made for them, or making up their own it only makes sense that you would want to present them to show how really fabulous they are.
What I like about the cocktails above are that they are in glasses that aren't the normal, and they have their own stir sticks. Such a pretty way to present your cocktail. So when you are thinking about a personalized drink, make sure you take a couple of minutes to decide how you want that drink presented. As always, it's the details that make the difference.

Color Pallettes: Blue
Talk about something blue! How gorgeous are these blue ties? This would be a great way to incoporate shades of blue into your wedding.
Have each groomsman wear a different tie! Better yet, have your new hubby to be give them as grooms gifts. And to take it a little bit further - not only would I have each of the groomsmen wear a different tie, I would buy another one, altered of course, to wrap around the bridesmaids bouquets!

Cool Summer Treat on a Hot Summer Day
Seriously, I L-O-V-E this idea. I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of ice cream (or sweets for that matter), but I do like just one scoop on a hot summer day and would definitely scoop one of these off the waiters trays! What could be more fabulous than offering your guests a quick, cool treat at your summer wedding.
Offer you and your new husbands favorite flavors, one flavor or a variety - you really can't go wrong. Just make it personal!

Flowers of the Week 1.4.10
Now that the holidays are over - I am officially ready for spring! With that in mind, I couldn't help but post these lovely spring centerpieces...
What is so great here is that each arrangement uses the same flowers but is a little different- adding variety. The texture is great too! Oh, I just really like the overall feel - welcoming, casual but put together, pretty but not overdone, a variety of color but not too much...I think you get my idea. Happy Monday!
