Darling Detail No. 23: Snowflakes

Okay, so I know I am getting ahead of myself on this one a bit ;-)  But I know there are lots of winter brides out there that would still have time to add this detail into their rustic winter wonderland wedding!

I think these snowflake topped cakes are just darling...

I adore details like this, don't you?  And I am loving the sugar coating on the cake and snowflake in the first picture...makes it look like it's just snowed!  Eeks - these DETAILS are making me smile ;-)

Picture Perfect Palette No. 7

Yes, it's official...as determined on my previous post today - I'm on a nautical kick!  So I am going to continue on that kick today with a beach inspired Picture Perfect Palette. 

And I know it has been a while since my last PPP post, so I am hoping that this one makes up for it!  So without further ado, here is PPP No. 7...

Such a pretty and calm palette.  Tell me my previous 'Darling Detail' post of the compass escort cards wouldn't be perfect with this palette?  Oh, I think it works perfectly...

And while I know this palette is too bland or blah for most people (however, I do LOVE it), it is a wonderful base for a color palette.  By adding just one color to this palette, whether it be orange, green, yellow, etc...you can create a bunch of fabulous events.

So let's just jump right into this first example of this palette, shall we?  First up is some gorgeous outdoor event inspiration.  Have a look-see at the fabulous curtains...

I love how the venue fits into this palette - from the sand/dirt floor to the fabulous walls.  And by the addition of some gorgeous material set against the beige linen, it makes for quite a gorgeous backdrop.  Carrying the color of the material over to the dessert table, it still keeps in line with the color palette.  Don't the desserts fit perfectly with the palette as well?

Up next is this homespun, homemade, vintage table...

I ADORE the look and feel of this decor.  And look what the addition of just a hint of orange to this palette can create.  Amazing, no?

And moving on from a homespun, vintage style - lets go to the other end of the spectrum with some elegant winter inspired decor.  Here the addition of deep, rich green is brought in, however, still in small batches...

Eeks - I love the way it's used here too!  Just picture charcoal linens, white plates, clear glass vases in a variety of sizes filled with white feathers as centerpieces.  A couple of painted pine cones (a beigy metallic is what I am picturing) and greenery on the table mixed among the vase(s) on the table would add a natural but elegant look.  Lots of candles on the table would complete the look.  Yet, some silky ribbon (possibly tied around the napkin or wrapped around a menu card) in a deep, rich color would be a fabulous addition as well.  Do you see it?  Fabulous, no?

Ahh, so there you have it my dears - a Picture Perfect Palette!  Hmm - that's one palette used four different ways, if you include the beach/compass inspiration...always amazing to see how you can incorporate it into any style of event.  Goodness, I love doing these posts; hope you love them as well.  Here's to a lovely weekend - may it be as fabulous as you!  I'll see you Sunday.

Flowerwild February: Day 18

I love the natural feel of this arrangement...

No bright colors or big flowers in this beauty.  It has a calming, welcoming, cozy and easy feeling about it, no?  Absolutely perfect in it's simplicity.

~ flowers of the week: 12.20.10 ~

Good Monday morning my dears!  Did everyone have a lovely weekend?  I arrived back home yesterday, and I am in a happy-sad kind of mood.  I am SO happy to be home, yet SO sad to have left my family in Florida!  I do have to tell you that Mr. Big's kids surprised me with welcome home posters around the entryway.  Let me tell you, I was just over the moon.  How totally sweet are they?  Such a fabulous thing to come home too!!! 143!

I can't believe this is Christmas week!  Oh my - I am WAY behind schedule.  However, I thought that these flowers are quite fitting for Christmas week...

Winter branches with pinecones in a silver vase - love it! Perfect for a winter wedding, or holiday decor.  Simple and elegant are so my style.

I am hoping to get back into the swing of things very soon!  Have an easy but unique Tuesday Thought coming up this week, as well as the table decor from my linen and lace photoshoot for my Thursday Homemade post.  I feel like I have missed out on so much the past week and a half.  Have lots to catch up on!

Candy canes end to end to form a heart - LOVE!  And macaroons rolled in crushed ones - SWEET!  Such a simple, common thing around the holidays...but perfect, easy, diy extra little touches for Fall and Winter weddings!

Flowers of the Week 3.15.10

Looking for an eco friendly bouquet for your rustic wedding?  Well look no further - because I found it! 

How gorgeous is this bouquet designed by the uber talented lauryl lane?  Oh, so gorgeous!  Just look at all of the texture.  And I love how the brown adds warmth.  Happy Monday.

Faux Snow

Yes, this picture is straight off the Pottery Barn website...not intended for weddings really...but that doesn't mean that this wouldn't make a fabulous centerpiece at a winter wedding!  How amazing would your table look covered with a little faux snow and candlelight?  Lower the lights, light the candles and revel in the magic of the flickering flames.

Other things that come to mind when I see the picture above...tartan (plaid), velvet, wool blankets, hot apple cider spiked with rum, and a horse and carriage to sweep you away!  But, remove the snow and you could have an amazing outdoor, woodsy wedding with lighter fabrics, colors and the like.  As I always say - ideas are everywhere!
