Happy Monday to you loves! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend ;-)
So here is some oh so pretty flowers to start off your week...
I am adoring this centerpiece. I love the square wooden box, and I love that it's filled with what looks like freshly picked wildflowers...all topped off with a succulent. Gorgeous, no?
Hope these brighten your week...and if not your week, at least your Monday ;-)

Inspiration to Creation No. 1: The Creation
Woohoo it's Friday! And what a week this has been. It's been a wonderful jammed packed week here at LCW. I am happy that next week I am back to 2 posts a day...because the week after that - yep, back to 3 because of the First Annual Cake Week here at LCW. Nothing like a cake a day, for an entire week.
I also have to tell you I am squealing with delight that my business cards for Over The Moon Vintage Rentals are on there way, and my website is going to coding in two weeks - WEEEEEEE!!!! Oh yeah, that's me squealing like the pig in the Geico commercial ;-) And if you haven't see it...you must right here as it will make you giggle. And giggling is ALWAYS good!
Okay, I dilly dallied long enough. I bet you are ready to see the creation of this table aren't you? Eeks, I hope so...and can't wait to hear your feedback about the series. I APPRECIATE so very much the feedback you have been leaving me daily - so thank you to the moon and back my dears! Mwah!!!
***Note - I do have to say one thing before I get to the pictures. My budget did not allow for flowers. However, I searched the yard and yards of neighbors (with permission of course), and picked up a couple of succulents - so while there are flowers and succulents on the table, they are NOT the ones I would have arranged if my budget allowed for me to go flower wild (oh yes, pun totally intended)! And believe it or not, but the only colored flowers in bloom that I could find were roses, and I did not want to use roses...so the flowers are most definitely lacking the color of the inspiration table...but it still looks fabulous!
Of course I had to make one change...I used white paper doilies down the center of the table instead of a table runner! I liked the softness it added, and as always I wanted to put my own little touch on it. So here is the creation...
I took the pictures at Aunt Millie's house as I felt her home fit the vibe of the table...plus she has these fab retro rugs, which I don't think made the pictures. But with a wall of windows it let in lots of light and reminded me of the inspiration space. Here are the rest of the pictures for you...

You can see that all of the details and projects are included as well. Don't the DIY compotes look great? Really, you would never know that they were homemade for about $2.00. Which is definitely a detail that I love. Granted, I wish the flowers were more similar and had some more color. All in all though a fabulous and fun creation ;-)
So that's it loves! Remember I wanted to recreate the inspiration...not match it exactly! That's what is all about...being inspired by something, creating something similar...but ALWAYS with your own touch.
I hope this series has provided you with some inspiration and some insight on how if you break down the details, and take it step-by-step - you can do it!
Wishing you a wonderfully delightful weekend.
P.S. - Oh and I was sooo bummed that I had to take down the fabric chandeliers. The pictures of them might not be that great, but they looked amazing hanging up! So if you like them...definitely make them, because they are fabulous. I seriously think I might hang a couple of the ones I made for this shoot in the corner of my bedroom ;-)

Aisle Style: In the Desert
About two weeks ago I told you darlings that I was starting a new series called 'Aisle Style' and I just wanted to say a few words before jumping right into pictures. I wanted to let you know that in most 'Aisle Style' posts I will be also be including the ceremony backdrop. To me the aisle leads up to this, so I might as well include it too...so you will usually find it at the bottom of each post ;-)
Anyhoo, I adore this desert style aisle! It's simple, but thoughtful and incorporates it's surroundings...
And for the ceremony location, one fabulous crossed piece of wood and a potted plant are all that's needed to mark the special spot...
A simply gorgeous desert style aisle, no?

The first two and the last two chairs are decorated with little posies of flowers which are just sweet. At the first row in front, they also did a little stack of rocks - which are just a wonderful touch don't you think?
The back of the aisle was adorned with simple pots filled with succulents and cactus...And for the ceremony location, one fabulous crossed piece of wood and a potted plant are all that's needed to mark the special spot...

Happy last Monday in January my dears! Can you believe it? One month of the new year already gone. I am in serious need for time to slow down. Golly, I haven't even thought too much about Valentine's Day...and now it is only two weeks away. Eeek, need to get going on some things!
It's funny how I love Valentine's Day, but I am not a red person at all. I think I own one pair of red shorts, and a HOT pair of red summer sandals. So I never do red for Valentine's Day...it's just not me. But if I was to get a bouquet of flowers for Valentine's Day, I wish it looked like this one...
Now this is so my style! Soft, light, and a mixture of textures. I am loving the combination of succulents, billy buttons, and irises (amongst other flowers) aren't you?
How was your weekend? Ever so lovely, I hope. Mine was quite nice, and pretty mellow. We ended up with rain on Saturday and Sunday...so it kept me inside more than I had hoped. However, last night it was make your own pizza night and playing Pictionary on the Wii, which was boat loads of fun!
And speaking of drawing...I will be drawing the winner of the Handmade Weddings book this morning, and announcing the winner later today. So stay tuned!

Welcome 2011, so happy you are here. And welcome my lovely readers - here's to a fabulous 2011! I hope to have lots of goodness for you this year. However, there might be some changes here at LCW, but they will all be good - promise.
As I have started off every week for the past year with the Flowers of the Week, I figured why change a good thing? It's such a great way to start the week I think. And instead of just posting one picture like I usually do, for this first Monday of the new year I am posting a handful of them. Of all the weddings that took place last year, I have many favorites...but the flowers from this wedding are at the top of my list...
Gorgeous, no? I adore the variety of flowers, colors, textures and vases that they are in. From the brides bouquet to the succulents on the tables - everything is soft, light and oh so pretty!

Hello my dears! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was spent sleeping all day in bed. So sorry for my disappearance last week. It honestly had to be my worst week this year! I wasn't feeling 100% on Monday, and then Tuesday I was totally steamrolled with the flu. And I'm not talking just any old flu, no sir - the kind that you're in bed for days on end, nothing to eat, barely can move, no shower...NOTHING! You don't have the energy to do more than grunt if someone talks to you. And you seriously think your world is coming to an end. I've had this flu two other times that I can remeber - once over Valentine's Day 12 years ago, and then just after Christmas last year. Hmmm...always comes around the holidays ~ note to self.
Yet, what I was most bummed about was not being able to make it up to Sonoma to hang out with Namoi and Dr. G! And not talking to a lot of my family and friends ;-(. Okay, enough of my sickness. I did feel horrible though, as I did not even wish you Happy Thanksgiving - my sincerest apologies.
I'm not 100% yet, but did get up, shower and eat on Sunday. One more day of taking it easy and then I should be back to almost normal. In the meantime, I am in the mood for some soft pretty flowers for this week. Oh yes, these would be just fine, thank you...

This has to be in my top ten list of favorite arrangements! I love all the soft colors with the candle and silver. Plus, I love the pop of dark from the chocolate cosmo's and the unstructuredness of it! Yep, these are definitely cheering me up.
P.S. - I have a handful of thank you's, tons of blogs to catch up on and comments to make, tweets to reply to, e-mails to get through, two photoshoots and two guest posts to do...all this week. Also it's Mr. Big's birthday tomorrow, and I'm leaving for Florida next week for 12 days! Eeeeek - I will try my hardest to get through them all!
P.S.S. - THANK YOU to everyone for your sweet comments, Thanksgiving wishes and get well wishes - I was so deeply touched, and they are SINCERELY appreciated!!! Mwah, Mwah!

Yes, I know...succulents stormed onto the wedding scene awhile ago, but they are here to stay! While I ADORE these plants...what I really love is when they are used in unexpected places!!! For example, inside picture frames...
Or inside a vintage wagon...
Either way they are so fabulous! And succulents come in such a variety of sizes that the options to find new places to use them are pretty much endless. Thinking outside the box will definitely make memorable details!!

Good morning lovlies! I am in the mood for something different today for this week's Flowers of the Week. And I think this dark, rich bridesmaids bouquet with pops of bright orange and fuschia is it...
This bouquet was created by the wonderful ladies at Poppies and Posies Events. And for me, is a study in contrast - dark and light, structured, hard lines and soft whimsy ones...but somehow it all works doesn't it? I love it for its rich, dark colors and its uniqueness!

I guess this week is all about simple for me! Too funny how that happens. Anyhoo, it's these simple succulents and simple cakes that I am loving today...
Just check out the color...
Here's another option...
With just a couple of billy buttons to add a pop of color...
All so deliciously yummy don't you think?
