Just darling, no?  And did you notice that the print on the escort bunting flags match the table marker bunting flags (even though the escort flags have the table number on them)?  Oh how I love the details, details, details!

Jar O' Fun

Pick one, any one...

It doesn't really matter which one you choose, as they are all fabulous.  All that matters is that you have some fun!  And how can you not have fun with gorgeous ribbon wands?  Oh, it's like being a kid again!

I have to say  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to two very lovely ladies today:

1. My fabulous Great Aunt Millie who is one of the most important people in my life; and,
2. A sweet friend who is not only amazingly talented, but absolutely just darling - Lisa from With Style and Grace.  Her blog is a MUST follow - so head on over there and wish her a Happy Birthday ;-). 

Since they are both celebrating their birthday today...I think each of them should pick at least two, don't you?  And you grab one too, and let's all twirl them around in the air in celebration of their birthdays!   I wish you both a FANTABULOUS birthday!!! Thank you both for being you.  Mwah, mwah!

Happy Friday loves!  It has been quite a week here at LCW - it all started on Monday when I found out Luna and Chloe Weddings made BrideTides Top 100 Wedding Blog list for 2011 (thank you again BrideTide for including LCW in a list of amazing bloggers - I am truly honored).  I was over the moon and back about making the list, and couldn't think of a better way to start off the first week of the new year.

Lots of other goodness happened throughout the week - finally finished up a couple projects and a guest post, working on completing another photo shoot, and other creative things I have been working on, all while trying to decide what changes to make to LCW in 2011.  Changes for the better, of course.  Changes such as finally getting my blog re-design wrapped up (it been 7 months now - eeek and I am so ready to get it finished), new features, adding sponsors, and some new and creative things that I think you might enjoy.  Hint, hint - any feedback you would like to leave about what you would like to see more or less of for 2011 would be greatly appreciated!  Mwah. 

So this Friday, I wanted to end the week by celebrating a bit!  Celebrating you, because without you LCW wouldn't be.  So thank you bunches for your support, comments, tweets, mentions - all of it! And what better way to start off the weekend, and a celebration than with some cake...

With feathers on top no less!  The perfect cake for a rustic winter day.  There is plenty to go around, so have as much as you'd like and enjoy.

~ homemade: yarn & wood details ~

Happy Thursday lovelies!  It's that time again for another homemade post.  This week I am playing off the guest post photoshoot that I did for my lovely friend Kate's amazing and inspirational blog, Magnolia Rouge.  (If you didn't see the post, you can see it right here.) 

For this week, I am using yarn and small wood hearts (an I and U too) as a cake topper, flags, details and decor.  As I am sure you are aware, Luna and Chloe Weddings is all about the details...whether big or small.  But for me, sometimes it is the littlest details that I love the most!  Some of them you might have seen before, but this is what I came up with.  So let's get to them, shall we?

I love the idea of plants as favors - wrapped in burlap and tied with yarn it is the perfect little gift for your guests to take home!  The plant below is white licorice...cute, no?

A perfect little cupcake topper you ask?  How about a painted wooden heart tied off with some yarn?

And how about having those cupcakes sit on a homemade stand? The one above was created from cardboard and covered in vintage book pages.

Now I hung the cute K heart S from yarn by just gluing it onto yarn, but I think it would make an simple DIY cake topper too, don't you?

For the kids, I created yarn flags with a yarn ball at the end.  My reasoning behind the yarn ball at the end...is that I don't want the kids (adults too) waving them around while not paying attention and poke someone's eye out!  The yarn is just a simple loop and pull through design...just make sure they all go the same way.  And for the ball topper, I just used a small styrofoam ball and wrapped yarn around it...easy peasy!  The other flags are a single vintage book page cut up and wrapped around a stick.

I am having an obsession with yarn...can you tell?  And it all started with the yarn balls that I'm sure we have all seen.  To make the ones below...I used three different sizes of styrofoam balls and yarn that's it!  To make the starting point stay I used a knitting needle to poke the yarn into the styrofoam...ended it the same way to...so safe for kids without needles.

A cute detail that I always love is when drinking glasses are dressed up.  Below I used a couple painted wooden letters and heart, some yarn and some glue.  I heart you, simply stated!

Finally...one of the last things I created for this shoot were yarn hearts and the word "love".

The yarn heart and "love" was made by dipping a piece of yarn in Stiffy fabric stiffner, shaping on wax paper and left to dry.  And while I mentioned plants as favors above...you can always take it up a notch by using a vase...this one is for cream (as is the other two in these pictures).

Don't you just love the "love" cake topper!  For those of you on Twitter yesterday, this is what I needed a cake for.  I just glued toothpicks to the bottom and stuck in.  I adore the way this turned out and did other words to...just to see how they'd look...I loved them all!

~ tuesday thought: floating signs ~

Wow where did the day go?  It's late...but better late than never, right?  I attended the Renegrade Craft Fair in San Francisco a few weeks back, and told myself that I needed to remember this...

...Paper Pastries sign floating in the air at the top of this picture.  Of course in our haste to leave, I forgot to take a picture or remember (as I didn't write it down) that I thought it would be a fun idea to use at a wedding.  Then low and behold Oh Hello Friend posted this picture and it all came rushing back...my thoughts that is!

So here is your Tuesday Thought:  Have your signs, flags or table numbers floating with balloons.  I know this wouldn't work with windy conditions...but it still is a cute idea that has been done in the past, but would be cute to revive again!  I would love to see these inside a barn or high ceiling building...a couple of balloons, or even one large round one would work...floating above the tables with the table number/destination/name attached (I'd make sure it was double sided to be easy to see)!  Cute, no?  Outside I would have a sign that says this way to the wedding attached to them.  It would also be cute to have them above the head table where the bride and groom sit with a sign that has your last name, bride and groom, mr. and mrs., hitched, just married or an initial on it!

Another option would be for escort cards.  So many ways to use them here...small balloons attached to a tiny basket with the guests names on them, or attached to some twine between two trees or stakes outside...  You know the drill...get creative and see what you come up with!

I am totally smitten with this row of flags...

Love the color and the fabric!  So you can only imagine how I feel about rows and rows of them...

I L-O-V-E.  Pretty fabulous don't you think? One thing I love about these is that they look amazing indoors or out!  And as you might have noticed no sewing necessary - just leave a little extra fabric for tags at the top and cut some holes in them - perfection not needed here...it just adds to the fun, playful feel of them!

P.S. - I'm telling you I think I am just a sucker for anything hanging.  Definitely an obsession of mine these days!

Custom Flags

I have definitely been on an Etsy kick this week - I think this will just be an Etsy week!  I am loving the customized drink flags by Lauren Makes.  Just a perfect way to add a special little detail to your special day.

There are also cupcake flags...how cute are the colors and patterns?

Oh, and these are just adorable!  The one with the "C" and the date - simply stated.
