Happy Tuesday dears! Question for you? Do you ever have an idea that you hold onto for a while...not quite ready to share with anyone, yet alone everyone? I do ;-) However, it seems that sooner or later I always end up sharing them with you! Yet, this idea I have held onto for 12 + years.
You see, I LOVE to cook. I don't cook very often anymore and I am pretty sure that I lost my touch now...however, at one point I was a very good cook, or so I like to think. At my bridal shower years and years ago - I received a cookbook from Aunt Millie as a gift. Yet, there was a super special part - and that was I was living in the Chicago area at the time, and she was living here, in California. She had mailed my gift to my soon to be mother-in-law's house to have her bring to the shower. So you could only imagine my amazement when I unwrapped a gift from her, as she wasn't even there. I cried when I opened it! It was sooo special to me, especially since my Grandma had passed away years before. The cookbook she sent me was The Joy of Cooking and had a lovely little note inside the front cover. It was at that moment that I thought a cookbook shower would be so fabulous!
I know long story, but not too long ;-) But I felt I had to share so you knew where my thought came from... because when I ran across these two pictures, it brought back all the memories...
And figured that now was the perfect time to share my long held thought ;-)
So I have a couple Tuesday Thoughts for you! The first being for a BRIDAL SHOWER (my original thought) - why not host a cookbook shower for the Bride (or Bride and Groom even). Have each guest bring a cookbook (you can have them e-mail you the name, so there is no duplication), with their favorite recipe bookmarked in the book and an short note on the inside cover! You can deorate the tables, as above, with a couple of the cookbooks the hosts are giving. And you can have other cooking utensils or items than the rolling pins...even though I heart the rolling pins ;-) It would be cute to do a variety of cooking utensils on the table - a whisk, a wooden spoon, etc... Not too many, just like above is perfect I think.
My second and final thought is for a WEDDING - instead of table numbers have each table be a different cookbook ;-) I LOVE this idea. Then as a favor you can copy a recipe from each book, bind all the recipes together, and give it away as a favor ;-) I think I would attach a little wooden spoon and some cooking string to the small bound book too!
I know I have talked about recipes and possibly even cookbooks before, however, I don't think I have shared these ideas with you. Can't you imagine (if you like to cook) getting bunches of cookbooks with a note in each one with favorite recipes in the book, words of cooking advice, or even thoughts on the recipe for a good marriage.
I have always beleived that cooking together and eating meals together is an important part in a relationship. It's a chance to work as a team, and then sit down together and actually talk to one another. It is ONE of the biggest things I miss being single...along with being the little spoon and kisses on the top of my head...but you don't really need to hear that ;-) And if you don't cook...then just enjoy your takeout together...hehe....cause there are definitely days we did that too!
Just my thoughts for you on this Tuesday my dears. See you tomorrow.
~ Ciao

Who Says
...you can't have sparkly shoes as centerpieces?
I L-O-V-E this idea for a bridal shower or bridesmaids luncheon! Especially with the tissue paper fluffies inside. So cute, no?

Homemade: Pin Cushions
Happy Thursday my darlings! Today's 'Homemade' post is a spin off of this guest post I did for the oh so sweet Gaby of Cap Classique. If you missed it you must have a look-see, as there are some simple and cute ideas ;-)
So as you might have guessed by the title (hehe) today's homemade project is pin cushions! While I used store bought pin cushions as escort cards for the post I did for Gaby - I have to tell you...I am OVER THE MOON about the homemade ones I stumbled across on Sweet Paul's blog. Just look at how adorable this homemade pin cushion is...
Oh I think I need to make a couple of these! And if you would like to make your own pin cushions too, click here for the how to.
I LOVE that you can make these in any color imaginable. Ooh, pretty patterned ones would be fabulous - think chevron, floral, gingham, etc... And you could even get a bit more creative and spray paint the can!
These pin cushions make a darling escort card or favor...or even stocking stuffer (okay, maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself with the last one)!

Tuesday Thought: Tea Sandwiches
Happy Tuesday loves! So tell me - did everyone have a fabulous holiday weekend? Goodness, I sure do hope so ;-) Mine was just lovely. And I am easing back into the swing of things today. Let me tell you, the snails pace I was moving at this weekend was fabulous...however I am still moving at it!
So I thought a simple, but lovely Tuesday Thought would be perfect for today. Have a look-see at these tea sandwiches...
Delicious, no?
So here is your Tuesday Thought for today...I have two of them: Serve up tea sandwiches at your bridal shower, or serve them up at a mid-morning or mid-afternoon wedding!
Such a lovely option to serve that is easy on the pocketbook and can easily be a DIY. I love the idea of them served up at a mid-morning or mid-afternoon wedding - it's a time when a full meal doesn't need to be served, but the tea sandwiches are not only fabulous looking, but the perfect snack for your guests. And for a bridal shower, it's timeless and classic...however, you can always put a twist on it with details and decor.
Along with the tea sandwiches you can have sliced bread, fresh fruits and veggies, even some meats and cheeses if you'd like. All displayed in an oh so pretty way - and you better believe that your guests would be impressed! I was impressed with the first picture above (and the other pics too), weren't you?
Another great thing - it fits any theme! Simple, classic, clean lines like the pictures above would be perfect for a bistro theme, or you could go with a garden theme with lots of flowers, or a beach theme with seafood and a shrimp on top, or even a woodland theme with a sandwich that is topped with a mushroom! As always, lots of options.

Tuesday Thought: Bakers Twine & Shears
I am over the moon about these shears and spools I spotted on Design Love Fest...
So darling, no? And while these were included in goodie bags at Blogshop hosted by Bri of Design Love Fest, I couldn't help but think they would be perfect for a bridal shower.
So here is your Tuesday Thought: Use these shears and spools as not only favors, but attach a little flag that has your guests name and table number they are to sit at! I am over the moon about this idea. Really, you can play off the bakers twine and pretty shears to really create a darling shower. And while there was no reference as to where the shears or spools of bakers twine were from...I figured I knew just the places to look to find them. And find them I did!
These Okubo Shears are the exact shears above...well I'm almost positive they are!
These darling shears are just 7 inches in length, slice through small twigs and all types of flower stems and are $38 a pair. Something we all need, right? And the bakers twine, well I went to my favorite Etsy shop for this, Inspire Lovely.
I found 50 yards of soft green and white bakers twine hand wound on a wooden spool for $7 each. And of course, there are other colors available. So for $45 you have a wonderful favor idea. Granted, this is an expensive favor idea, but I still love it. Yet, if this is out of your budget, I am sure you could find less expensive shears to use instead. Also, another option would be to use it for bridesmaids gifts. Just a thought ;-)
