Flowers of the Week: 7.25.11

Good Monday morning loves!  Did everyone have a wonderful weekend?  Do anything fun?  Oh please do share, as I was holed up for the majority of the weekend crafting.  And when I was out it was running errands.  I do have to admit though - I was so in my element ;-)

Since I have been neck deep (notice way more then knee...hehe) in crafting lots of different goodies, I am really in the mood for something simple for this week's flowers.  And a bouquet doesn't get much simpler than this...
Flowers of the Week
A single magnolia bloom that is STUNNING!  For some reason I feel that stunning all in caps still doesn't justify how breathtaking this single bloom is.   I literally caught my breath when I saw it!  What do you think my dears...would you carry a single stunning bloom?  If it looked like this, I would!

Looking forward to an exciting week here at LCW!  My family comes in on Wednesday, so life is gonna get even more crazy good...but do have some lovely planned for you ;-)

P.S. - A warm welcome to my new followers!  Thank you to the moon and back for the follow ;-)

~ who says ~

...your centerpieces can't be made up of three artichokes on their stalks?
Who Says
I love the simplicity of it...don't you?  Yet, it still makes a statement.

And I just have to tell you that I have a soft spot for artichokes, as my family had fields and fields of them here in California before they sold them off.  One of my favorite, and fondest memories as a kid was riding the horses bareback through the artichoke fields.  Oh how I would love the opportunity to do that now!

~ flowers of the week: 8.30.10 ~

Happy last couple of days of August!  Wow, can you believe that September will be in here in two days?  What I want to know is where did Summer go?  Seriously, it never really felt like it came.  Even the weatherman said it's been the coolest Summer in 90 years...or something like that!

Anyhow, did you have a nice weekend?  My Saturday was kind of busy, but I can't complain, for the first time in AGES I went to bed at midnight Friday night (the earliest in weeks it seems) and slept til noon!  I can't even tell you the last time I slept for 12 hours.  It was so need...as Friday night I didn't know what I was doing while attempt to make dinner because I was so tired!  But I did squeeze in a baby shower cocktail party Saturday afternoon, and a meet up with my cousin Greta Saturday night to see Eat Pray Love.  (Dang it, I wish I would have read the book!)  Sunday was all about domestics (as Mr. Big calls them)...laundry, yard work, prepping and repainting the shed...which for the first time ever (that I can recall) I think I might have picked the wrong paint color!  So it doesn't get crossed off the master to-do list, as we will probably have to repaint it again (dang it again).

So with all the crazy going on...I just want something simple this week.  And these simple, single stems in bud vases and beakers all in shades of green are exactly what I want...
Flowers of the Week
It's the subtle statement that I love.  Just group an odd number together in varying heights for a centerpiece, or they would also look great going down the length of the table.  And the great thing about these is that any color or flower would work!

Here's to a great week!

~ on the table: apple wine ~

I keep coming back to this picture, as I think it would make a simple centerpiece idea for a casual orchard or wine country wedding, indoors or out...
Drinks
I'm seeing long tables with white tablecloths and wooden crates (like the one above) in the center holding a couple bottles of wine, some cute glasses, apples and/or grapes, branches and/or vines and a table number.  To top it all off I would add dishcloth napkins at each place setting for a casual, homey feel that would also add some additional color if wanted!  Can you see it?

But I do have to say that any fruit, nuts, cheese, shells, etc... and flowers, grasses or moss would work too depending on your location!  And really this idea can be used at just about every location I can think of.  Such a cute, simple idea that I love!

I am in the mood for simple today!  And I think this satisfies that mood...
Flowers of the Week
So pretty all in green - adoring all the different varieties, textures and sizes.  And I love the extra little sprig on the napkin...such a sweet little touch!  Happy Monday my dears.  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
