Inspired By: A Print

Hiya lovelies!  I am running way behind today...so sorry ;-)  But I do want to try and get this post and my Handcrafted post that I have up before the end of the day today...I will try my best!

It's been a bit since my last 'Inspired By' post...so I figured it was about time I did one.  So here goes ;-)  I think this cake...

Was inspired by this print...

Wouldn't you agree?  Hehe.

I know, I know...I just posted this print yesterday with a color palette...but I gotta tell you lovelies - ALL WEEK LONG I have been seeing this color palette...from cakes to feathers and everything in between.  I was trying really hard not to post anything in this color palette again this week, but when I remembered that fabulous cake...I just couldn't help myself.  So forgive the duplicate print post...but it is just such a perfect match for that cake I HAD too post it again!

Okay, off to get some more work done...and hopefully my Handcrafted post ;-)  Hope you're having a fabulous day!

Picture Perfect Palette: A Painting

Good morning dearest darlings ;-)  How about we start today off with a lovely palette?  Yes.  Fabulous.  Then have a look-see at this 'Picture Perfect Palette'...
Picture Perfect Palette
Gorgeous!  A smashing palette for Spring and Summer.  But I can't help but think that it would make a wonderful palette for a Winter wedding ;-)  I know, not your typical Winter palette, however, it sure could be fun, no?

Flowers of the Week: 10.24.11

Happy Monday lovelies ;-)  Did you have a wonderfully sweet weekend?  Do anything fabulously fun?  Me - well, I pinned all weekend.  No, seriously...pretty much all weekend long.  I love that I could stay in bed with my iPad and pin away the day...HA!  It's a perfect thing to do when you're not feeling well...just look at pretty pictures and pin the ones you like - easy peasy...and that's a good thing because that's about all I could handle all weekend!

However, I did rally up some energy and attend a lunch, and visited with friends and family on Saturday for a couple hours...but other than that I did not do too much, or leave the house all weekend...which is sooo NOT me!  But I just haven't been feeling 100% ;-(  Headaches and a fever = no fun.  And I see a doctor visit coming soon if things don't straighten up around here.  Granted, I don't feel awful and miserable - just not very good, and my normal full of energy self.  I am hoping that all changes this week, and whatever I have will just go away...I wonder if that's wishful thinking?!?!

So I really am in need of some beautiful flowers to brighten up my Monday.  And I think this bouquet will definitely doing the trick...
Flowers of the Week
All wrapped up pretty and ready to go.  Hmm, I don't mind if I do ;-)

Here's to a great week (sick or not, dang it) here at LCW!  I'll be back soon with my second post.  Until then - enjoy the flowers...hehe.

New Series: Picture Perfect Palette

Do you ever see a picture and think that the colors in it would make the perfect palette?  Eek, I do it all the time!  So I thought, why not introduce a new color series to LCW doing just that.  One of the big decisions a bride has to make fairly early on is...what color(s) they want to have at their wedding.  I am hoping that this new series will show you lots of different color palette options to choose from.

I know that I could create inspiration boards for you, but I decided I am going to leave that up to my two fabulous friends, Chris of Postcards and Pretties and Kate of Magnolia Rouge and Ruby and Willow who create the most A.MAZ.ING boards out there!  However, just to mix things up, you will see some added inspiration in the form of color, not necessarily the feel of the image or style...but the color, and how if you love the colors you can incorporate them into your event no matter the style or theme.

So without further ado, the first Picture Perfect Palette...
Picture-Perfect-Palette
I am loving the colors in this picture; soft with creamy undertones.  They conjure up images of an ivory wedding dress, pink bridesmaids dresses and flowers with just a hint of the two darker shades.  I would add in pops of melon for contrast.

The wonderful thing about seeing a color palette is that you don't have to necessarily choose all the colors.  For me the soft pink, creamy vanilla and melon would be the colors I would choose (go figure), with the darker colors brought in here and there.  And just to give you a little idea on how you could incorporate these colors, I found two examples for you - one being a bridesmaid dress...
PPP-1-Dress
I am adoring all the pleats on this dress!  It's a perfect match for the soft pink and brings in the vanilla in the sash detail.  And the second is flowers...
PPP-1-Flowers
As for the flowers (yeah, I know...you have seen them before ;-)), I adore the pink and hint of vanilla...yet, if you look closely those berries and the small darker flowers pick up the two darker colors in this palette.

And if this color palette isn't working for you, check back next week for a new one!  I would love to hear your thoughts on this new series.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ;-)  I thought about giving the colors names, but couldn't decide.  Anyhow, hope you enjoyed this post!

~ tuesday thought: frozen melon-margarita pops ~

I have feeling this is going to be Cocktail Week!  I hope you don't mind?  Anyhow, how fun would it be to treat your (adult) guests to these cool treats...
Dessert
Yummy.  Wanna make your own?  Here's how:  Stir together 3/4 cup tequila, 1/2 cup Grand Marnier, 1/2 cup fresh lime juice, and a pinch of coarse salt in a large bowl.  Cut cantaloupe and watermelon into wedges.  Soak in tequila mixture for 15 minutes.  Insert sticks (I think I'm on a stick kick today!) and freeze for 1 hour on a baking sheet.  Serves 4-6.

But you know me and how I like options!  I start to think and off I go...so here is your Tuesday Thought:  Using melon balls would make another great option!  Just use melon balls instead of wedges - then you can serve them in pretty little cups with a fork/skewer/toothpick or you could just add a couple to a margarita for a pop of color!  Add then you could take it a step further...and use a small cookie cutter to add a shape or letter!

P.S. - Here's a little disclaimer - the melon balls/shapes are my adapted version of the original recipe, and I have not made the melon ball/shape version, but if you're only changing the shape then I don't see why it wouldn't work!

~ flowers of the week: 5.17.10 ~

Here's a bright pop of color to start off the week...
Tabletop
Loving this color combination of orange, melon and pink.  So pretty, don't you think?  I also love how, rather than mixing the different flower colors, each is kept separate from the other.  Happy Monday!
