Tuesday Thought: Eggstra Special

So today's Tuesday Thought is a little bit 'out there'.  Which isn't the first time one of my ideas has been 'out there'...and I am sure certainly won't be the last.  However, if done right - it could be oh so cute!  And with Easter just around the corner, you know I HAD to post.  Have a look-see at this ...

Okay really, how cute is this?  Wouldn't you love to get this in the mail?  And wouldn't you feel eggstra special receiving it?  Me - super duper cute, yes and yes!

So your Tuesday Thought for today is:  Why not use these cute little eggs as your Save the Dates!  How darling would this be for a wedding on a farm....especially one with chickens? 

I would paint the egg in one (or more) of the wedding colors.  Hmmm, you could even paint the date on the outside, paint save the date on the outside or leave the outside just plain, and on the note on the inside have a small save the date or your information...depending on what you, if anything, you do to the outside!  The paper doesn't have to be as narrow as the piece above.  You could easily do three lines or four and still get it to fit in the egg.  Just keep the length of writing across the paper on the shorter side, as to keep the paper small when rolled.  Also, the cost of mailing wouldn't be too much either as the box, egg and filler/padding (we all know there needs to be some) are all pretty lightweight.

However, you know if I was having a baby - I think I would LOVE to use this idea for birth announcements!  (And no, I am not pregnant in case you were wondering.)  But you could really come up with something cute like - "look what just hatched", or "our little chick has hatched", or "we have some eggstra special news"...well you get the idea.

I found this darling idea on Poppytalk, who had originally posted it last year before Easter, but re-posted part of it again this year for Easter and I am so tickled they did as I think it is such a cute idea.  Anyhoo, if you are looking how to make these yourself either follow the steps above or you can get the step-by-step right here!

Flowers of the Week: 4.11.11

Oh Monday - why did you have to come so soon?  I wasn't quite ready for you yet!  However, another Monday means another week closer to Summer.  And I heart Summer.  June just can't get here quick enough these days.  Then July, when my sister and her family come to spend two weeks for our birthdays.

Did I ever mention that my sister and my birthday are one day apart?  Different years, but one day apart.  Yes, mine first and then at midnight just for a split second it is ours, and then a second later it is hers!  I used to complain growing up that I never had my own birthday once she was born...as she was younger and we always celebrated our birthdays together on her day.  Golly, my mom usually forgets my birthday (I don't mean that in a bad way at all mom) as I think she is so used to celebrating on my sisters.  However, now I could care less!  I am so blessed and thankful I have a sister, and that she is such a big part of my life (even though we are on opposites sides of the United State).  We have always celebrated our birthdays together...yet, the last couple of years we haven't been able too.  But come this July we get to celebrate our birthdays together once again!  To say I am OVER THE MOON is an understatement.  Goodness, it is only April and I am already thinking about it. 

So you are probably wondering why all this talk about my sister?  Well when I saw this beautiful arrangement it reminded me of her...

The oranges and yellows are so Cole (my sister)!  She looks fabulous wearing these colors with her brown curly hair ;-)  Now me, these colors don't look so good ;-(  Which I wish wasn't the case, as I do love orange and yellow.  I can however get away with the paler yellow, and the peach.  And I'm telling you a lot of people can't wear grey...oh but I can, and I love it!  Okay, I am now officially rambling. 

So tell me - did everyone have a lovely weekend?  Do anything fun?  Was the sun shining for you?  It was here, but it was still fairly cool.  Maybe that is why I choose a pop of color for this Monday - to bring in the warmth that has yet to fully arrive, and the wish for summer to hurry up and get here.  And if it hasn't arrived for you either yet, then I hope this adds some warmth and color to your Monday, my dears.  Wishing you a wonderful week!

P.S. - And Cole I think it is pact time!  Pact:   that we try never to spend our birthdays apart again!  Okay?

Homemade: Shaped Butter

Hooray for Homemade Thursday!  So before I jump right in to this Thursday's Homemade project, I thought I would tell you a couple of things about me!  Ready?  My food weaknesses (besides salad which is, believe it or not, something that I crave everyday and go through withdrawals without...I know call me crazy) are bacon, BUTTER, bread, cheese and homemade ranch dressing!  And piping hot french fries...love those too.  Yes, these 5 - no 6 little things are what have me doing sit ups, yoga, long fast walks, heel raises while I brush my teeth, and everything else workout related!  Then you add to that how OVER THE MOON I am about details...well then you probably have a better understanding of this post!

About a month ago, I signed up to receive the Country Living magazine through Zinio - so fabulous, and I highly recommend!  Anyhow, I finally just went through the March issue only to run across this...

Butter shaped farm animals!  Oh, I totally had forgotten about butter molds, and was just tickled to see them again.  And I have to be completely honest with you...and tell you that for events and my own engagement party I have used butter molds before. While I didn't have fancy molds like these from Poland By Mail...

..they still turned out darling. However, almost any chocolate mold will work (though I believe the silicone bendable ones are best) and the options for shapes are almost endless.

Yet, the chick and lamb are absolutely adorable aren't they?  So perfect for not only a Spring wedding, shower, etc...but they are perfect for any barnyard wedding or event during any season too!

The best part of all of this - they are so easy to make!  Just let butter soften, pack it into the mold, level off the top and chill until set.  I remember putting mine in the freezer to speed up the process...as I needed to make a couple batches. Easy peasy... and oh so cute!  And yet just another reason for me to love butter!
